Tierra Del Sol

We are leaving for Aruba Saturday. I'm scheduled to play golf at Tierra Del Sol three days. Has anyone played the course? If so what did you think?

Re: Tierra Del Sol

It's great, windy, hot and long. Tee times should not be made around 12:00 very hot and no shade. The trade winds make it fun and different to play everytime. Good luck.

Re: Tierra Del Sol

I played it once about 5 years ago and it was fun but the scores were high because of the wind. It blows a constant 25mph +.
So where you might use a 7 iron for 150 yards, there you will use a 3 wood if it's in the wind.

Re: Tierra Del Sol

I played there a lot....very nice course, tough the greens arent good always....i guess it has to do with maitenance.
The course is great, lots of wind, which makes it hard and challenging!!!
Excellent view, nice gprs-system in the cart, make sure you have enough to drink....
enjoy!!

Re: Tierra Del Sol

It is a fabulous course. Dessert type links. I have played it since its opening & play it everyday while I'm down there. The wind is the main hazzard on this course. You will need to club down big time into the wind (2 to 3 clubs). On 4 & 5 you would be greatful to hit your drive 180 to 200 yards. Don't let the holes that have a cross wind make you over compensate to much, some think you have to hit itway out to the right in a right to left wind but this is not true. Just aim at the right side traps (expecially) on 15. If you have the 7 am t-time get there about 6:20 so you can hit some balls on the range (into the wind). The 3rd hole is the signature hole, If you play the regulation tee walk up the steep path to the right of the cart path. This will bring you up to the pro tee. Bring your camera, you can get some great pics (you can get the lighthouse, the green & the water in one shot),also bring your clubs I normally hit a 5 iron 185 but it will go the 224 here downhill & downwind. Have a great time & don't let the wind discourage you. Alot of people hate the course because of the wind and say they'll never play it again, but I say if they didn't have the wind the course would be easy! ENJOY!!!

Yes, I have played it. Windy as all get out. Gets kinda warm in the afternoon too. But, the course is interesting and there are some scenic areas including the wildlife sanctuary in the marshes.

Re: Tierra Del Sol

Grounds anmd putting greens are well kept and visually great to be on due to the natural environment. Cart and walking paths are excellently laid out.

Wind factor plays major role. Don't expect to shoot your best game the first time out. Lot's of players do an eight hole round and then evaluate and move on to the full course.

Another good recommendation is to do some driving on the range prior to the game.

The rest is really up to you.

Re: Tierra Del Sol

I have played the course 3 times. Very Hot and Windy. Great views. Greens and fairways are kept very nice. Hope your drives don't hook or slice because if you not on the fairway, your ball either wedged into a cactus or lost somewhere in the desert. Awesome par 3 on the back 9 hitting over the water.

Carts are top of the line with GPS tracking of yardage.

We are heading for 8 days this Friday June 30 and staying at the Marriot Surf Club and we will play 1 round.

Good luck!!

Re: Tierra Del Sol

My husband plays there every year at least 3 times. He likes it, but it is a hard course. You should play early in the morning before it gets too hot. It is cheaper in the afternoon, but very hot. Have a great time and hit them hard.
