Re: Time Share presentations
Liz,
Timeshare presentations are pretty much the same world-wide with a few exceptions aside from high pressure or not.
Regarding high pressure, if the resort has to use it, then beware. I define high pressure as what you feel and not what the salesperson does. If you feel pressured, however notice that the salesperson is doing his best to not pressure you, then just ask for a few minutes off relax time and go have a cup of coffee while you think about what has been presented to you. I sometimes feel pressure when I walk into a store all by myself and contemplate buying a high ticket item. In my case, it is self-inflicted. - Hey - its' my had earned cash. Right?
Aside from the above, there are some interesting points you might want to know about timeshare on Aruba.
Aruba has very strict rules and regulations and has been a pioneer in the Caribbean regarding the use of these rules and regulations. In most cases (if not all) the new or pending member is given a full check list of his membership conditions and rights. I had the opportunity to view a resort in Pidgeon Forge, Tennessee and have to tell you that this was not available there. In fact they resented that I asked for it.
The properties on Aruba run the gamut. Aruba Beach Club beaing the first one on the island and actually one of the first ones with the exchange company RCI. I think it was number 8 if I am not mistaken.
Marriott has contributed a great deal (timeshare wise) and in-betyween those two resort entities lies a gamut of new property opportunities as well as many resales.
Regarding resales, I would recommend them in this order:
#1 - Resort resale office first
#2 - BVR (Brian Van Romandt) second
#3 - Private listings
#4 - visitaruba.com
I try to encourage clients to stay away from realestate offices. It simply is not their priority.
Aside from that, I can throw in a tid bit and let you know that Aruba is the stellar Timeshare sales performing island in the Caribbean and is within the top five in the world in membership growth.
It says alot about the people and the product.
NOW - Should you or shouldn't you???
Your call completely. It is the answer for some and for others not. Listen to what your sales representative has to say and give it thought.
Be well
Charles
