    Timeshare Presentations...Worth it?

I read somewhere (another blog) that when you check in to the DIVI resorts, they try to convince you to partake in some sort of vacation rental sales pitch. Most people seem to decline, but it's something to consider I guess. Anybody have any knowledge of this? Any perks to doing the sales pitch? Thanks!

they may try to entice you into a timeshare kind of presentation.
divi does not have "owned" timeshare, just the right to use.
(some of the original divi phoenix contracts may be owned thru perpetuity, but all other divi is right to use for X amount of years/weeks)

the prizes for listening may be something like a car or jeep rental for a day or 2.
    maybe an island tour
    maybe some casino play

over the years the "prizes" have become not worth the 90 minutes of your time.

Personally, I think they are not worth it. They tell you 90 minutes, but they always seem to keep you longer. We have been offered dinners and excursions, but have not done this in Aruba. We did one in Virginia Beach for concert tickets and we did one in St. Pete Beach, Florida for a cheap 3 night getaway. Both times we used the opportunity to learn more about timeshares and vacation point systems. Both times we regretted the time away from the beach. If you decide to do it, plan on it being between 2-3 hours, not 90 minutes. Is what they are offering you, worth giving up that time?

I'm with Tracey..... I'd never sacrifice a nap on the beach for a presentation......unless I was seriously considering a time share.

I too agree not worth the wasted time unless perhaps you are in Aruba for an extended stay and can afford or don't mind using us the time. I stay at Divi AI and there is never any pressure, they ask us once when we first arrive as we pass by, we politely say "no thanks" and never asked again.

Before we bought in Aruba we used to drive to visit my family in Hollywood Florida every year. We would always stop at Disney for a day and did several TS presentations. Always was worth it after the 1st time when we realized they would keep you forever if you let them....So first time we were is Aruba for a week after a stop on a cruise the year before I already knew I wanted to buy. Told the guy right up front what I wanted, what I would spend and got thru it immediately. Got the $100 in free casino play and have never done it again. That was 20+ years ago.
If you have a few minutes to spend early and don't mind...make them feed you breakfast and listen to the deal, politely refuse and ask for the gimme.....just make sure you know what the "freebie" is and ask for it outright. You don't have to stay and they have to give it to you if you listen to the speal.....

Ugh we did 1 at LaCabana the first trip to Aruba- got free breakfast, tank tops for very an XXXL person( we would take a medium at most)and a free dinner. We refused, told them we just wanted the freebies and we were out very fast. A couple years ago we did the Divi one- told the guy the same thing but he kept us forever- I will never again do a timeshare presentation and lose my hard earned vacation time so no I don't think it is worth it.

the freebies of "today" are not even close to the freebies of 10 years ago.

The Tropicana offer in August was 2 day car rental plus breakfast at their casino restaurant & dinner a restaurant of our choice (out of a few of them I'm sure - didn't get that far). The meals would have been for our entire party of 5. May have been worth it to some - I was considering it since my daughter wanted to rent a Jeep for a few days & the meals would have saved us a few hundred bucks. In the end we decided that beach/pool time was worth more.
