TITLES & TOPICS
It's kind of funny how the titles and topics influence what posting we read and the time and attention we give to it. Never ceases to amaze me.
Every once in a while I go through every single posting and find some great stuff hidden behind some pretty lousy titles. The opposit can also be said.
Don't remember which one it is anymore but there was a great trip report some time back that took me by surprise. It transformed me to their vacation and I felt I had experienced all that they had. Well written and gave so much fabulous information. Restaurants, sights to see, prices and rates - you name it and it had it. The title - was a bit mundane, but then again who gets help from a title?
If you want everyone to read your posting (no matter what the topic or content) just entitle it with somethig that has to do with sunbathing topless. That gets to everyone. Salivators, non exposers and exposers alike. The older guys and the young ones all jump in. This, of course probably includes some kids that are lurking through these posting trying to figure out how to get in on the action. Anyway - name it topless and you are famous - if only for a bare breasted momment.
Another one that seems to grab attention has to do with steak house names in the titles. This is a pretty good way to get readership. Just think about it - would you read anything that related to KFC on Aruba and the work that the late Collonel Sanders did in the kitchen? Nahh.
Try writting about bowling. While a great family sport - it is a bulleting board DUD. Thinking about it, I may write about our lanes here on Aruba.
All in all, if you want a good overall view of this island, just read all the posts. YOu will know about flights, hurricanes, sun and fun, night spots and how much to leave for a tip at an AI. Where else in the world can you actually ask and find out what the view is from room # XXX at the TAM and get solid responses? This place is a supermarket of information about the island however those topless threads are the big draw.
REcently I saw a posting that was original and great. It simply asked where you are from. I love it!! It brings people together in a sort of a virtual coffee clutch and gives identity to a bunch of names. To the one who originated it. Congratulations.
So......... if you have questions like "will I need a passport" or "What is it like at XYZ?" - try and think of a catchy title. Don't ask about the weather in your title, just mention the word "Volcano" Topless one at that.
To wrap this up - this is my way of letting you all know how much I learn from your questions and postings. Incredible information flow. I thank you for that. I read you often and learn.
So here I am - at the pool side - WI-FI connected after fidgiting with it for about one hour, topless and no one gives a darn. What can I tell ya?
