Tonic and Balashi

This is a strange question, but does anyone happen to remember, when strolling through the grocery stores in Aruba, whether they sell DIET tonic water? Last year when I traveled with my brother and his wife, we hauled over 10 liters of diet tonic between us in our lugguage since it is not something we thought would be available on the island. It was very heavy, though it was nice on the way home to have extra room to bring souvenirs. Anyhow, when we went into the grocery store, I was too distracted by the wide variety of other products (such as Diet Rite cola!) that I did not even look to see if our extra baggage was even necessary. I cannot find a phone number for any of the stores, or I would call them directly to see if we need to do the same thing this year (in May). Does anyone have the phone number, or if anyone is there now (or will be going before May), could you check and let me know???

Also, there was a rumor (that was probably started by my brother) that Balashi sells a light beer. I went to their website and saw nothing that indicated that the rumor is true. The bartenders at the hotel we were staying at said that if it was available, it would only be at the brewery itself. Has anyone been on the Balashi tour or to the Balashi Beer Garden and seen a BALASHI LIGHT???

No balashi light. Isn't tonic ( Fizzy water?) I didn't think it had calories. Unless it was flavored.

Re: Tonic and Balashi

My wife and I got stranded at the beer garden...our taxi cab left. The bar tender gave us lots of free samples of regular balashi, light balashi, and also food. The place is great. I have not seen balashi light in bottles or cans, just kegs. The phone number to the tropical bottling company/balashi brewery is 011-(297) 585-4805. They certainly can tell you if its available in bottles/cans and where.. Perhaps its available in their own store.

Here is the email address for Ling and Sons grocery store. You can check with them directly. They do have a wonderful variety of items.

Enjoy! Can't wait to get back there myself soon.

Re: Tonic and Balashi

Regular tonic water has carbohydrates/sugars mixed into it. Diet tonic does not. Since my fellow travelers and I will be making several of our own vodka/gin & tonics in our rooms, I would prefer not to get bloated while at the pool. All this hard work to get into shape for Aruba cannot be ruined!!
