Toyota Yaris size

Has anyone rented a Toyota Yaris from Tropic? I was concerned about the size, trunk space and ability to nagavigate the dirt roads.

Thank you, Mary L

Re: Toyota Yaris size

We always get a Yaris and it is perfect for the four of us. It is larger than the Tercel but smaller than the Corolla. We use the car to get to certain areas where the roads aren't great but these cars are not made for the roads that are very bumpy and not level at all. Four wheel drive vehicles are recommended for those parts of the island.

Luggage can be a problem. If there is only two of you the "typical" luggage people bring to Aruba will fill the entire trunk (one suitcase) and the back seat will fit another two. So be careful. If there are more the two or one of you is a cloths "horse" then do not get a Yaris.

Re: Toyota Yaris size

Have rented from Aruba's finest gentleman HANS, a Toyota Yaris and we put 3 large suitcases in the trunk. It has a very large trunk. We had 4 people in the car, 1 suitcase between the people in the back, and we all had carryons that were in the trunk and or car. It is roomier than you think. It is fine for driving everywhere except the Natural pool.
Enjoy Aruba and don't worry.

Re: Toyota Yaris size

A Yaris is just like a Toyota Echo that we have here in the states.

Re: Toyota Yaris size

We rented a Yaris when we were there 2 weeks ago and we did fine with it. We had 3 adults and one child. I actually though it was a little bigger than a Corolla. While I wouldn't go totally off road with it we did fine on dirt roads when sigh seeing, a little bumpy. A couple of times we even had to park up on a curb and we didn't bottom it out or anything. As for luggage we made it back to the airport with two extra large pieces of luggage and a medium rolling one in the trunk. In the back seat we had two small back packs and a medium duffel bag and there was still room for me and my daughter to sit. The only thing that was bad was that me and my husband are on the tall side and a couple of times we banged our knees pretty hard on the dash underneath when getting in. It was awesome on gas, we rented a 5 speed. Good AC and car was in fairly good shape. We'd rent one again!

Re: Toyota Yaris size

Hi,
My mom and I rented a Yaris and were pleased with it. It was just big enough for the two of us with luggage all fitting in the trunk.
Your upper arms will get a work out as it is power assist and not good in tight spaces.
I would not recommend in rough terrain however. It does have a lower clearance and will bottom out easily. Hope this helps!
Happy Trails,
Helen Marie

Re: Toyota Yaris size

I agree with Joe- I rented a Yaris and the trunk held 1 large suitcase and the other suitcase had to be placed in the back seat, which left only enought room for 2 people in the front seat.
