Last year when I was in Aruba in July I visited the natural bridge and decided to go for a hike.
I was so disappointed to find trash (cans, bottles, and other things) in little piles.
Is there any way that locals or the government could be hired to clean this up?
Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?
I’ll be back at in June and was hopeful that the problem had been addressed.
When in Aruba in January, I saw lots of trash along the east coast. I understand that much of it was washed up on shore during the hurricane. My solution is to have the Government of Aruba hire me to clean it up...just pay me room and board and Balashi beers and I could easily spend next winter cleaning things up.
Graeme,
I'll join ya!!!
Carl,
How about if the Americans who buy food and drink and the shop by the natural bridge stop littering. That may solve the problem.
Americans?
Sounds like an angry Arubiano
Remember without Americans Aruba would not
have half of the tourism = no dough so Blame it
on someone else. Canadaians maybe.
I think that it is VERY unfair to blame Americans for all the litter! Some of us even bring trash bags for our litter and even pick up other people's litter!
The USA always recieves the "blame". I am sure glad we do not provide the many nations who need help with help. (this is a joke) Again, I will be there shortly for two weeks, hire me, I'll spend my earnings on the Island.
I own at Divi Village in Feb. One of our fellow owners spends four weeks in Aruba every year. Each morning Larry goes out in a different direction with his "trash picker" and cleans up debris from various locations around Aruba. Larry's an American and does this to give back to the wonderful Island of Aruba that has given him many years of happiness. Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to blame all Americans for spreading debris. There are plenty of visitors (legal and illegal) that are on the island at any given time. To blame us seems very unfair and shortsighted to me.
