Travel co. out of business

I just wanted to see if anyone has been in this situation. I highly doubt there is anything I can do at this point, but I recently booked my honeymoon at the Bucuti through Tradewind Tours only to find out today(after getting an updated confirmation email last week) that they shut down and never paid the hotel. Luckily, our reservation was still in Bucuti's system so I had to re-book and pay the additional money. Hopefully noone else has to go through this fiasco. Is there anything I can do as far as my deposit...or is it gone?
On a higher note, I'm thrilled we're still able to go and am really looking forward to staying in Aruba

There is a government agency which oversees the travel industry. They may be able to give you some advice. There may be an insurance bond to cover you. Good luck.

call the hotel and ask if any money was sent. also contact the attorney general in the state where you live. also if you paid by credit card, contact them and dispute the charges. also call TV and report the story.

Re: Travel co. out of business

Unfortunately, the hotel never received ANY money! Even though my check had been cashed over a month ago. I was an idiot not putting the balance on my credit card, but this is for my honeymoon. I wanted to just pay it off since I already have been putting everything else on my card. Live and learn, I guess.
I did find a complaint form for the local district attorneys office so I hope something happens there. It's a shame that crooks get away like this!
