    www.insuremytrip.com

and if you will be renting a car there, make sure you pick the plan with the auto collision/loss of use.

a few yrs ago a friend h ad to be airlifted with a broken leg from costa rica.
his $90 trip insurance covered EVERYTHING.

I went on Insuremytrip and checked some prices. There are so many choices and at such different prices. I guess I will have to do some research!

Travel insurance is always a good idea. Some are surprised to learn that many health insurance policies will not cover care outside of the country of origin. Most travel insurance policies will cover or reimburse health care expenses. Events like food poisoning from food left out too long or a twisted ankle from a hike can happen
    I personally like the website:
    squaremouth.com
For my upcoming Aruba trip, coverage cost something like $58 bucks.

    Trip Insurance

How many of you buy trip insurance? Our honeymoon is coming up (Oct 18~25) and I have been debaiting if we should buy it or not. The room was through a personal time share and one of the plane tickets was bought with miles.

Any thoughts? BTW, we leave for Aruba the morning after our wedding (Oct 17th)

Let me know what you find out

I have been kicking it around also. I already rented my timeshare unit for next July. Haven't bought the airfare yet (Jetblue didnt release yet).

It is not that expensive... so I might do it just for to be sure!

For the expense of purchasing the insurance vs. the loss if you cancel the trip it is well worth it.

I discovered this lesson when I cam down with chicken pox at the age of 46 . Dd came down with them as well and we had to cancel a planned trip to New Jersey over Thanksgiving.

With no insurance, we were fortunate we did not lose the tickets, but did have to pay change fees times 3 people.

You just REALLY never know...Especially nowadays with the threat of H1N1.

For great one stop price comparison shopping for trip insurance:

Price depends on a good many factors.

So your only cost was the price of 1 airline ticket and the taxes on the other ticket purchased with miles...........

    get the insurance
    * if you are delayed the insurance will give you some perks/allowances if delayed more than a few hrs.
    * if one of you (god forbid) gets into an accident your trip insurance will cover emergency air evacuation/air ambulance
    * luggage loss bettter reimbursement than the airlines
    * car rental loss some policies have car rental clauses

    a good invesment
    :-)

We never took it until 2 years ago (getting older). You never know what will happen. We never used it but glad it was there when we had it.

Get the insurance. My boyfriend and I went to Aruba last November. We arrived Monday afternoon and early Tuesday morning I got a call that my son was hospitalized back home and we caught the next flight home - my first trip to Aruba!!! Anyway, he's fine now and the trip insurance paid for everything, the entire cost of the trip including changing the tickets home, phone calls, cab, etc. I would never travel again without it. We had bought the insurance because his mother is elderly and had been having problems - never though we'd use it for my family. PS - We went back to Aruba in March - loved it!!!

I have found prices from the low $100's on up. I have an Amex card and that insurance was about $114 for the two of us. I may look into getting that one?
