    travelers checks?

    anyone use travelers checks anymore?

they are readily cashed at the casinos.

i just received notification that our credit union has phased them out effective July 1

We had a hard time finding them last November so I gave up. We loved them for our casino money. The Amex website will tell you local places to buy them but we found a lot of banks will only sell them to their customers. We chose not to do the prepaid card and just used our Atm card a couple times. I'd rather pay the fee than carry the cash.
Not sure when, but we will be back

I think they're kind of a pain but Tom brings them for casino money. When we were in Vegas he won so when he came home he wanted to deposit them back to savings. He had to sign each and everyone and it took forever!

With the growth of credit card usage and acceptance everywhere, travelers checks have kind of out lived their usefulness. These days you have to deal with many places not accepting them as well as the whole double signing of each check.

Credit cards are easier and cheaper. They provide benefits such as rental car insurance and miles/points.

We use them and are able to obtain them in our local bank w/o fee.
Most Restaurants & Grocery stores accept them. Also, have some cash for the smaller expenses.
Don't have to worry about Credit Card Fraud !

I went to the bank last year to purchase some travelers checks and they do not have them and would have to order them. I just take some cash and credit cards. This works for me.
