    Traveling Style for couples - Always together, or some time apart?

    The recent thread about activities got me thinking - what do most couples do in Aruba if one person wants to do something that the other does not?
    Our style is mostly together. Aruba is our time to reconnect because at home we are often 2 ships passing in the night.

    What's your style? Would you consider going to dinner on separately? What things would you split up for?

    Once he went diving, and I stayed on the beach - that was probably our longest stretch apart in all of our trips.
    Other times, one of us may want a nap while the other is either at the beach or popping in to the casino.
    I've been thinking about wanting to check out the comedy show or maybe even going to dinner on our own if we want different things. I'm not sure how well that will go over.

    Tracey;
    Like you we usually "always" together.
    So true about reconnecting. May separate for an hour or so. But that is about it.
    Don't think Lou and I would want to do things separate either.

    Prior to last trip I would get dropped off at the ocean while my wife had to wait but this has changed. I bought her some snorkeling gear. It took her a few hours of frustration and doubt, but now I can’t get her out of the water.

    I’m way more of a beach person than Tom. He’ll spend an hour or so with me on the beach and then head over to the casino. We meet up for a late lunch and then I’ll head to the casino with him. Once there though Tom is off to the tables and I head for the slots. If I get bored then I’ll go shopping or head back to the beach and we’ll catch back up for dinner. At home it’s a different story as we spend close to 100% of our time together. It’s nice to have some Me time in Aruba.

    in aruba, we are mostly together.....'cept when he heads out to gamble alone when i am not interested.
    if i have a losing night, i typically do not go out the next night. sometimes i stay back and sulk

    ...also too i have gone horseback riding alone, while he hung out at the beach.

    dinner.. always together.

    a few times, he has gone fishing and i have gone to the beach or hung out at the pool.

    My wife enjoys a relaxing morning. She will sleep late, work on a puzzle, or read in the condo. I go to the beach at sunrise, walk for 90 minutes, and stay at the beach all day (except for a quick lunch). The Mrs. usually joins me in the afternoon.

    We are together from 9am- at least 8pm as a family most days. The exceptions are when I take our son to the arcade and my wife relaxes or goes to the spa... After 8pm its 50/50 on what happens. A few nights each visit we have our wonderful island sitter and we head out for the night. The other nights I tuck my family into bed around 9pm and head out for a couple hours to gamble. Our trips have drastically changed over the past year or so. Our son is older and ready for more daytime adventures so I tend to be home much earlier than I was a few years back. All that said, these are the best trips ever.
