    Travelling to Aruba

A few questions.... will we need anymore than our passport, ID, boarding passes to travel. Also do you recommend cash, credit cards or a mix of both? Thanks to all!!!!

    passport required
drivers license required if rentng a car
    boarding passes yes

a mix of cash and credit cards is always good
use your debit ONLY in an ATM machine there
notify your bank and credit card co of travel dates

When contacted the credit card company about travel dates I would also suggest inquiring about any foreign transaction fees. That may determine whether or not you will use an existing card or apply for a new one that doesn't charge those fees.

Just about all restaurants and shops in Aruba accept credit cards and charge your card in USD so there is no currency conversion fee. The only thing I use cash for is gambling and misc. purchases at small vendor carts, flea markets, etc.

Andrea, why shouldn't we use debit card with Visa logo? I think I remember a post about this some time ago. Was it because of unauthorized transactions?

i think that there have been reports of unscrupulous actions.
ex: one uses their ATM with a visa logo or a master card logo to rent a car.
the car gets damaged and the car rental place deducts what they feel is due right out of your checking account.

there are crooks everywhere, even some in our beloved aruba.
the visa and mastercard logo do not protect you from someone stealing from your account.
they are not credit cards. they are debit cards.

i advise all to use their ATM only in ATM machines or at the bank while in Aruba

even here in the USA, it is imperitive for folks to be very careful with their debit cards.
    credit cards offer protection!
