Tremor in Aruba
Was awake at 4:15 a.m. today and felt a tremor. Thought it was my imagination at first with all the talk about the earthquake in Haiti, but turns out it was not. 4.2 earthquake in the ocean just off the shore of Venezuela.
Have been reading about it on another forum: http://www.aruba-bb.com/viewtopic.ph...=unread#unreadLet's hope that it for now! |

My parents are still in Aruba; the emailed me late yesterday and said they had high surf from it. Please keep us posted! What a tragedy in Haiti! So very, very sad. |

Thanks - yes everyone is fine. We did have high seas yesterday and we'll see how they are today. It is currently mostly cloudy but warm and breezy. THe forecast for the rest of the week is beautiful, however.
We all just need to be aware of the high seas and currents, and be very careful in the water. Let's hope things get back to normal now! |

Just back from going out. The water around Malmok has calmed down.
There are tons of boats out. It was calmer going out than coming back - but that's prob. due to the tides. Does look a little 'rainy' tho...

Thanks for info!
My parents arrived on island yesterday and I have yet to talk to them. Will be interested to hear if they felt it. Wonder how long the moving and shaking will impact the surf? Only 24 days until I return to Aruba for my annual visit with the folks

My parents just called from Aruba...
Dad said the earthquake woke them both up this morning! My Mom thought it was an airplane. Dad said he knew it wasn't an airplane since the building shook. They said all is well ...

As MJN109 had posted before, our family is still in Aruba and also felt the tremor. Extremly strange phenomenom going on in the world....when we were there last week I noticed that the surf was higher than usual...it was discussion one day when we were relaxing in the ocean. There really was no current to speak of at the high rises, looked like it was high tide much longer though. Anyways our hearts go out to the Hatian people, keep them in your thoughts!
