TRIP REPORT (12/31 - 1/7)

Ahhh, home crap home... I have the Aruban flu.. Depression, and my tan is beginning to fade. High temperature of 27 degrees (wind chill of 15) tomorrow here in Green Bay, Wisconsin...

Anyways, what a great week in Aruba. Rain for 5 minute on Monday and 10 minutes on Sunday before we left. Otherwise SUNNY and HOT!!

First up, our 7 dinners/restaurants.
7-The Buccaneer Restaurant - Very cool atmosphere with the fish tanks, but food was just ok..
6-Pinchos - nice setting out on the pier in the water. Decent food, decent prices.
5-Le Petite (by LaCabana) - 3 locations on the Island. Pleasant surprise! Loved how the food was brought out on the hot stone. Everyone loved it!
4-Chef's Tables - This restaurant is very new. Only has been open for 13 weeks. I did not see any advertising for it and did not notice it in the phone book. Food was excellent! But, it was very smoky inside. You would think that a restaurant with such a nice atmosphere and a great display of food would not allow smoking. Oh well. Maybe next year they will not allow smoking. Then i'd go back!
3-Tango Argentine Grill - Excellent food, great show. We dined outside so we were able to enjoy the music out there as well. The two guys were playing popular rock songs with a piano bar style to it. Very cool! Our waiter, Jacobo, was awesome!
2-Cuba's Cookin' - My third year in a row here. Excellent food, excellent music!! So much fun!!
1-Madame Janette - Third year here as well. I was married on the island on 1/3. We had our wedding dinner here. Unbelievable food, excellent service, excellent music. Best three meals of my life!!

This year, we stayed at Playa Linda. I loved it!! Great location, very clean, great beach, friendly staff. Two years ago I stayed at The Renaissance. Last year at LaCabana. Both were nice, but Playa Linda was much nicer in our opinion.

We went on a sailing/snorkeling cruise twice. Went with "The Dolphin" and "The Octopus". We went with The Octopus last year as well. So we knew how much fun Jethro and his crew are. Great time! The Dophin was also a great time. They are a great crew as well. Would recommend both to everyone!

Like I mentioned, I was married on 1/3 at the Phoenix Resort. Indira of Aruba Fairytales Weddings was amazing!! And I can't say enough about Reverand Gibson who did the beach blessing!

We also had a great time "jeepin'" on Saturday. We rented from All Drive Car rentals. Great to work with. The jeep we rented only had 5,000 miles on, so that was nice!!

I hope I did not forget anything, but I've rambled on long enough!!

Aruba, I miss you!! See you next year!!

Marc and Amanda

Re: TRIP REPORT (12/31 - 1/7)

Glad you had a great time!

We have stayed at 3 different hotels (Divi, Holiday Inn, Aruba Grand), and last year was the deciding factor after staying at the Playa Linda. We will return and stay there this year and hopefully every year from here on in!
