trip report
After a bust last summer at the beach the wife said take me where it is sunny and warm. Aruba was definitely that. Not wanting to be rushed or waiting for rides, we rented a 4X4 susuki, hardtop w/air from Amigo. 41 a day no insurance relied on the credit card insurance. Car was not new but clean and had no problems. After seeing people standing waiting for the bus was glad we rented. Drivers were courteous. Signage was lacking, but you do not go far without crossing your tracks.
We stayed at the Mill Resort, across the street from Wymdam. Beach was less than a five minute stroll. They have their own beach hut with towels, chaise lounges, canned beverages, and a friendly helpful beach attendant, Mark. Snorkle the Northwest side of the rockpile just off shore to see a lot of fish. We only ate at one place twice, garden cafe at the Mill. Best meal was at the French Steak House. Five course dinner, we both agreed it was the best meal we have ever had dining out. Steak to die for. Service was outstanding. Most memoriable meal was the Aruba Experience at the Windmill. We ate there on their second night open and had the whole dining room to ourselves. Pampered ,no coddled was more like it.
Sunset meal - LaTrattoria, lighthouse.
Best value breakfast-LePettie Cafe at the Pardise Beach Villas. Best senic breakfast- Tortuga at the Aruba Beach Club. Ice Cream- Ben and Jerry's at the Windmill. We also did KFC and McDonalds very reasonable. We did notice that everywhere, you are going to wait longer. Plan on it and enjoy.
Favorite activities, exploring the island's east and south side, Finding baby beach, the natural pool, snorkling, sunbathing, baby goats, crashing waves, the kite surfers at Boca Grande. Least favorite activity, leaving.
