Trip Report-Activities
Activities: We took a snorkeling trip with DePalm which was excellent. There was an open bar on the boat, which was interesting. THe 3 sites they took us to were great, but snorkeling at the Antilla was very difficult because of the current. The next day, we took the jeep tour from DePalm and we were disappointed. First of all, the microphone in the jeeps did not work for the first half of the trip so we did not have a guided tour, which is what was advertised. Also, the ARuba Aloe factory was a waste of time. I came to see Aruba, not shop (especially on a sightseeing tour)! THe scenery along the tour was beautiful, but I would have liked more opportunities to stop and take pictures. Keep in mind that the tour consists mostly of off-roading, so you get bouncec around quite a bit!
We rented a car, which was a great experience. IT was amusing because there are very few street signs on the island; directions consist of landmarks. It was great to be able to explore the island at our own pace. The drive to the area of the Natural pool was interesting; there are no official signs, but a lot of little signs on rocks and handmade signs. It was an experience we will never forget! We hiked to the Natural Pool on our own (after finding out the DePalm tour takes a group there in the afternoon). It was a VERY VERY tough, hot hike but the experience was worth it. The view was breathtaking. We also got to see a unique part of the island. It was worth it to rent a car to explore on your own.
Baby Beach was awesome. My husband loved it! THe water was so clear and calm; plus, there were hundreds of fish. The snorkelling was incredible. The sand was also so soft and there were plenty of shells. It is definitley a must see.
Next year, we want to explore the island a little more. It is the most beautiful place we have ever been.
