    it is Turtle Time

Reminder...do not disturb the nests, litter or drive vehicles near the nesting areas.

I hope some of the forum members are lucky enough to see some hatch and the parade to the water.

I would love to witness a hatching. We received a newsletter from the Bucuti yesterday that mentioned turtle hatching season. If you're staying at the Bucuti they will put you on the turtle call list so that you don't miss it.

So now that nesting has begun it takes about 60-70 days till they hatch. I'm was really hoping we would be there to witness the event this year, but I think we're going to leave before it happens.

Last year I totally missed one of the hatchings. I was about 500m from the event at the time but did not know about it.

But if a turtle decides to nest in May, I might have another chance this year

I saw a picture on another forum of people holding baby turtles. This can't be a good thing?

They definitely should not be holding the turtles!

Not good at all! Don't touch them! Let them do their thing. Maybe direct them toward the water if needed as they can become disoriented by light (and camera flashes) but that's it!
