My husband called the member services and was told that the Casino would be finished by Dec. 09 as their permit has an expiration date.
I am at The Aruban now. The "casino" looks just like it did last summer - no walls, no workers the last week & a half.

Someone please remind me to never rent here again. The staff really needs to learn some hospitality and the divorce feeling is just insane. My SIL went to the beach and was told she could not have a chair, even though there were stacks of chairs but they were for La Cabana only and the guy at the beach told her The Aruban does not have enough. The guest svc desk screwed us up twice now - messed up a reservation so we did not get into a sunday brunch and told us a jeep was not necessary to get to the Natural Pool.

Sorry - didn't mean to vent. Just wanted to say the casino will definately not be done by December.

    Exclamation Wyndham Vacation Ownership

    http://www.biggerpockets.com/properties/3272-aruba-casino-362rooms-timeshares
"Aruba, casino 362rooms timeshares Debt/Equity…. appraisal 91.4mm.(12.2008) Windham Worldwide will fund $5m towards the project to get contract on hotel to sell as time shares. They will market and sell all 14,000 Fractional interest in the resort. Study indicates it will take three years to sell out inventory. Company to recieve 40% of sales proceeds. Expected gross sales from time shares $300m. Client is seeking $25m. to: a) payoff existing discounted debt of $65.3m. at $16.3m current note is with 2 hedge funds that are going under. b) $9.5m for construction of a 48k sq.ft. casino. (operation of casino will be moved from restaurant to this building). c) 2m for room renovations. d) 2.2m for legal fees, expenses Etc…Windham expects to sell the intervals at a price of $21.5k, Casino Operation expects to generate a minimum of $5-$7M of cash flow per year."

Wyndham Vacation Ownership could not possibly be any worse than the present situation.

Today on the local Aruba channel they showed a protest with workers from Aruban Hotel who are upset. Not sure what is going because of language barrier but workers very upset and probably because of$$$ issues.

Sorry to confuse - I stayed at La Cabana for one week then moved to The Aruban for one week. Saw the camera crew for the protest. The housekeeping staff continues to be very nice, even though there is a language barrier, the security staff manning the slide at the pool are nice to the kids.....that's about it.
