I was literally just talking about this the other day. I am so tired of hearing "OMG you are soooooo lucky" No we aren't lucky - we didn't win some lottery to finance our trips - we work our butts off and manage our budget to afford our two yearly trips. We are in our mid 20's and we have waited to get married until next year and then decide on when we're starting a family. This is why we are able to do what we do. And I am already said to my husband to be - once we have kids I couldn't imagine not having them to share in on the vacation experience.

My work just called me again !!! do I want to watch this "one" lady again Saturday and Sunday for OT and $100.00 Bonus... HECK YES !!!
I been doing 2x a week for the past month. I just put the lady in a wheelchair, pack a little picnic, take her for a long walk along the river (getting paid to do my exercise) by the time we get back 6:30 pm she is out for the night.. now I just sit in her room till 11:15pm and go on the forum, watch TV or whatever..
Why do they ask me?? Cause they know I will do it.. mainly for my vacations. Yes, 3 double shifts in a row every weekend it a lot.. but it already paid for my trip to Aruba. The haters won't do it cause they can barely do their reg. shifts.. they rather see me go on trips..lol

(thats the whole 15 hours a day thing....) so if you saved up all the money YOU use going to the movies or dinner or whatever you to could spend two whole weeks a year with your spouse!!! lol

I never get that upset by comments. Certainly not enough to shame them back. I just smile.

Just before my last trip an acquaintance of mine really laid into me about going to Aruba on the grounds that he made way more money than me and that he had never been there as yet, and here it was that I was going on my 4th trip. I explained it to him like this,1. I saved money at the end of every month to go towards my trip (airfare and spending money, as I was using my mother's time share that was transferred from Antigua it saved on accommodations. 2. The desire to go really encouraged me to save. 3. I'm still single and don't have the demands of a girlfriend to go out every weekend or to every party and concert during carnival. 4. As I am something of an Introvert I have fun sitting at home doing things that I love like reading, watching tv etc, instead of bar hopping from Friday to Saturday night. I save the partying and stuff for Aruba where I know I will find a much more friendly accommodating and accepting crowd.

I get the why are you going to Aruba again question, why don't you try a different island. My answer is we love Aruba,we did try Punta Cana and although we loved the beach there the people were sketchy and much less friendly. I guess we are just lucky to have found our happy place on our first carribean vacation.because for us Aruba has it all.

I thought about this thread today and laughed. I booked Emerald Isle, NC and turned in my vacation dates. The response was, "You can afford to go on two trips this year?" My answer was, "I'm not done planning yet. I may go on 3, or maybe 4."

I wish it was Aruba, but we'll see how much I like N.C. I'm going with an open mind.

He really didn't deserve the courtesy of any explanation!

Yea I get that all the time. "Another cruise" "Aruba Again". But I just ignore them. I get 30 vacation days a year and I use them all up!

Having heard most of the you're going to Aruba again, you're so lucky etc. comments, it's made me more careful when a friend or acquaintance mentions they're going on a fabulous trip that I would love to do one day, too! I just tell them how wonderful for them and how I hope they have a safe and happy trip plus I seriously want to hear all about it when they get back.
We don't use our Aruba timeshare every year and have traded for HI, Saint Martin and Las Vegas and have given weeks to my MIL/FIL for Myrtle Beach (their oldest grandson was in spring training for college baseball that week) and Las Vegas. We are happy to share with them. It does bother me when their youngest daughter thinks she's being cute and tries to invite herself on our trips? She's pulled that move on at least one Aruba trip in the past. The last time I think we we're going to a college football game and treating her middle son and his long time significant other. An away game for all of us, so I told her to let us know what plane she was on and where she was staying so we could meet up, LOL! I don't know how serious she was but I decided to choose to play!

Is this your first trip to Emerald Isle? We go there most summers. We'll be there in August. If you like, I can send you a pm and let you know some of our favorite restaurants and things to do. We love it down there.

People just expect us to go to Aruba now. Every year, right after Christmas, most of my husband's business clients start asking him when we are leaving for Aruba. All of my friends know that it is a yearly thing. There is a young woman that I don't know well in my church women's group. Back before Christmas the group was planning an event at the end of Jan. She looked at me and said, "I know you won't be here because you'll be in Aruba." There have been several years where we have gone on three trips. Some of the men who work for my husband give him a hard time about it. Usually, they say something like "you've already gone on two trips this year and now you're going on another?" He shrugs it off and says "life it short and you can't take it with you."
