a video with resident's remarks and thoughts
Tthis was sent to me today.
i am making no real comments other than to say it "profoundly" had an effect on so many many lives. i encourage folks to post their opinions on the video. i hope i am not making a severe boo boo in posting this link. again, my only real thought are the huge effects it had on so many. andrea http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfy2E_Xp7eo |

hm.....i'll share with you something that happened to me and my dh on our honeymoon - which was a year after holloway disappeared. we were at the check-in gates at jfk when an elderly lady started up a conversation with us. she asked if we were newly-weds and commented how sweet we look and all. then she asked where we were going for our honeymoon and when we told here we were headed to aruba, her demeanor changed with the quickness and she sharply quipped that we were setting a bad example by not boycotting the country for their failure to successful close the case and do all they can to capture the suspects. she stated that she should be ashamed ourselves for showing solidarity with the family.....
talk about a start to our honeymoon.... |

I'm not shocked, it seems as if people don't realize tht ppl wind up missing all over. Its only b/c this is probably so rare on tht island tht it's such a big deal and many feel tht the government didnt do as much as they could/should. I personally think they should have at least pretended to care a little more but such is life! ppl just need to be more careful.

Such a black or white topic.
Imo, as Icandy said, things may have been different if"government didnt do as much as they could/should". Either way it does not change what happened, it does not change people's perception, again black or white. There are people who will never ever visit Aruba, but travel to other locations where peoople have been murdered.

Will this ever end? Not likely, sadly.
Testimony to the power of the media.
Well, if they don't want to visit what many here consider paradise, so be it. All the more for those of us that know better. be well, be safe

It was posted on another board that CBS 42 news is from Birmingham, Ala.
I don't know if Birmingham or Ala. is still calling for a boycott of Aruba. As far as I know Beth no longer lives there. Dave Holloway & his wife Robin dropped their support of a boycott in June 2007. They are not happy with how the investigation went, but "In our opinion, the boycott has caused a lot of hurt for a lot of innocent people who do not deserve that." I feel that any recent slowdown in the Aruba tourism (last year or so) is do to the U.S. economy and not due to N.H.

imo this has nothing to do with your worst evening in 12 years , that particular restaurant and its food and or service. maybe you should move it to the culinary reviews? i did ask for oninions and i respectfully disagree with yours your post giving me the impression of some anger? am i reading/hearing it right? andrea Quote:

Word of mouth is the best advertsing. It is also a good tool in damaging a restaurant's reputation. The problem with restaurants in Aruba is that they more or less have a captive audience in that there is always a fresh supply of new tourists. This is a reason why online forums are an excellent source of information for those planning upcoming trips.
