do you need to present that card to get the discounts even if you claim it while making the reservations online?

It depennds upon the place. I use the Visit Aruba card to make a rental car reservation at Budget, and they have never asked to see the card. However, they do give me the 10% discount for having the card. I get the card every year just for this purpose.
