...and leave your shoes home too. You can wear a pair of nice sandals at just about any restaurant on your list.

So not brown flip flops but nice brown strap on sandals right?

Mine are actually nice tan flip flop sandals. I wouldn't wear the flip flops I wear on the beach-something nicer. Aruba is probably the most casual place I have ever been to-just dress neatly for dinner and leave your dress clothes home.

Always travel (even in the dead of winter) with only shorts, never a problem. It may feel cold in New England, but never in Aruba.

My idea of "dressing up" is a polo shirt instead of a tee (for the better restaurants). I did see a musclehead in a sleeveless style undershirt at Gianni's this year....that shirt was poor taste (my wife, Cindyo, refers to those as "wife beater shirts").

BTW, in response to this thread title....YOU ARE NEVER ALONE IN ARUBA, YOU CAN COUNT ON BEING WITH NEARLY 100,000 FRIENDS!

Im going to bring leather sandals, 2 pairs khaki shorts , and some polo and full button up shirts. No tennis shoes or socks , but my sandals i bought are nice dockers.

Im leaving for atlanta now to spend the night before my flight to Aruba tomorrow morning. Thanks to everyone for the advise and I'll report back afterwards.

Don't worry about the Cabs. They are ALL on the same standardized fare, and they charge you the same amount. From the divi properties to downtown it was 9 each way, and from the divi properties to the high rise area, it was 9 dollars each way.

My husband and I are going to the Divi AI Tomorrow!! He has cargo type shorts (3 pairs) and he also has 3 pairs of dress pants and shirts (we like to dress up for dinner sometimes). Pretty much casual is acceptable everywhere, except windows. I think you have to have long pants there. When we went in December, all the men had long pants at dinner....

The shuttle is quite cool, and the casino over at Alhambra is fun! You will have a great time in Aruba by yourself. The people are very friendly, and I actually found all the tourists we talked to to be very friendly also!

    Have a great trip!
