Has anyone ever used half way decent walkie talkies on the island?
How did they workout?

Cool GMRS radios are great to have in Aruba!

I brought a pair of GMRS radios with me last year (26 km range) and they worked great (i.e. they were clear/there was nobody else trying to use the channel that I was on). I found them to be very helpful (e.g. when making dinner reservations I could call my wife in our room and ask her what time she preferred to eat) around the resort and will definitely be bringing them again with me this year.

We used them several times...sent our teens out shopping, and we hit a few different stores. We were able to use them with great success. I highly recommend them. The range wasn't that far, I think it only went 1-2 miles. We had to laugh a few times because we went into someone else's range and picked up there conversations. cindyo

We will be trying them for the first time this week. We will be using the GMRS radios. I'll let you know how they work out.
