    We used walkie talkies up until this year as we ended up buying a phone. They worked well for our needs also. The range was from the suites ( renn) to Iguana Joes that we had used...guage that.
    For the $$ buying the walkie talkies I would buy a phone for $85.

    cindyo - $85 buys you a phone with ample minutes for the duration of the trip? it's a rental, correct?

    forgive my ignorance, if you buy a mobile phone for aruba, how does the plan work? monthly minutes, cost, etc. is it a prepay phone? is it cost effective for international calls.?

    it is a prepaid phone either by setar or digicel
    it is very effective for international calls

    Here's my take....we bought a 50 phone, 30 prepaid card and off we went. All calls to US and local calls for dinner reservations...the # is ours now. We need to keep it active by adding minutes to it. We bought a bunch of 5.00 cards add a few minutes here and there and its our forever. It will also be good for Dd going on a cruise in Aug.
