I emailed my parents about the winds yesterday (3/20/08). My dad said,"...Your right on [about the waves], couldn't go in the ocean today way too dangerous. Still hot and still spent 2 hours laying in the sand working on my tan. It rained like crazy while we were eating breakfast, done by the time we were done eating. Great weather here all the time."

Unfortunately it looks pretty much the same today. The water at the Bucuti has come up higher today than yesterday.

I read a report on another forum yesterday of someone staying at the Tamarijn where there are blocks of buildings which have been boarded up because of the water approaching.

Sunny weather is good!!

The surf was brutal last night. Drove by Eagle Beach around 9pm and it was pounding. Someone had setup a huge spotlight on the beach so everyone could clearly see the conditions ... and hopefully not venture into the water. Drove by again this morning and it seems better but if I were a tourist I'd stick to the beach and the hotel pool for now.

Sorry for posting in the wrong thread before. I hadn't noticed the 'weather' thread, and was unaware of the wave-conditions of the past few days. It just kinda freaked me out to see it.

That 18 mph tradewind helps to keep it comfortable, just tell your beloved, no fancy hairdo's.
Lisa,you have one for April?

Thanks. I assume Aruba always has around 20 MPH winds? I hear it's a windy place.

Yes, Aruba is very windy. The tradewinds keep the island bearable. The days when the wind disappears are the ones to worry about.

Average Wind Speed
March 17 mph
April 18 mph
May 19 mph
June 20 mph

The wind can make you forget your sunscreen because your body doesn't heat up as fast. You definitely don't want a sunburn on your vacation.

showers?

Hi there,
I am going to Aruba on Thursday with my girlfriends and the forecasts call for showers?!?...all 4 days we're there! I know they are usually brief, but can anyone reassure me that the beach will still be nice? Thanks!!!
