You can literally be on the beach and see it raining down the beach when the sun is shining brightly over you.

    Weather more unsettled than usual

This is our 9th visit to Aruba, and the weather is more unsettled than we've ever seen it. Thunderstorms almost every night for the last week and a half. Some rain during the day, including one storm that was more than an hour.

Lots of standing water and tons of mosquitos, especially inland. Dusk is a real challenge because you can get "eaten alive".

that tropical system that formed in the s caribbean last week took its sweet time moving northwest. the low pressure system apparently is falling apart but has greatly affected the surrounding areas with clouds, showers, sucking nice trade winds away..............typical for when there is a weather system in the area.

we had lots of mosquitos too in mid august on island.
we had days when the wind was minimal and the heat index was very high.

    Hi,

Last night I was woken up by thunder and lightning and heavy rain.

But I fell asleep again and in the morning, when I woke up, my wife told me that the government closed all the schools on Aruba.

When I had started up my computer and checked the satellite it shows that it was actually over.

But they said that around 9:30 am heavy rain should come again.

Again I checked it out but nothing was showing so…….??

Anyway the children had a day off and It kept dry for the rest of the day and the temperature went up again fast with a high humidity.

Now I am anxious watching Igor for it looks like a mean hurricane.

I still hope and pray that the predictions by the experts will be right and his course will be back to the big ocean instead of the Windward Islands.

    Well tomorrow will tell.

    Till next time

    Roy"

Weather has been really weird here lately. It has been cloudy for the last few days with brief periods of heavy rain causing some local flooding on the roads. The wind is non existent.

Just came back from Eagle beach and saw a water spout (Funnel) in the distance. Dark clouds overhead with some lighting and loud thunder but no rain as of yet. The air temperature is 89 and the water temperature is 88.4 - it actually feels warmer in the water than out of the water.

Hopefully the wind will come back soon.

    Regards,

    Hey Everyone,

So I am coming up on my 6th trip to aruba from oct 3-9th. I was wondering if some of the community who are in aruba or locals would mind giving me some actual weather updates in the next week 1/2 so that I know what to expect for my trip. It sounds like it has been rainy and I am so worried that my trip will be spent in my hotel and not at the beach Everytime I have traveled to aruba it has been in oct and I only had one issue in 2008 where I lost 3 full days and it was horrible. I have been looking forward to this forever and my husband and I act like kids at christmas when it comes to aruba, so I hope everything is okay for us weatherwise. Thanks

While it has rained (usually heavily!) every day for over a week, rains seem to be fast and furious. If it's pouring, wait a bit, and you'll be back in the pool. Mostly, it rains in the morning or late at night, and the clouds leave you alone for the bulk of the daytime.

The only real downside has been some street flooding, and the occasional brief power outage. We've had two here in Noord. But, I'm pretty sure the power never went out at the high rise hotels.

The weather channel on the net can give you a projection for the next 10 days, at any point. Just put in Oranjestad (spelled that way), Aruba, and it will come up.

Kind of difficult for anyone to predict weather 12 days out, but like NealNearNorth said, which is typical, rains, even heavy ones, fall mainly as showers in the early morning and over night. Also keep in mind weather forecasts are going to reflect that fact, so even if you see a mention of showers during the day, it is just that a shower, not all day rain and usually in the morning.

    Here is a forecast for 9/27 -10/3.

    http://www.accuweather.com/en-us/aw/...forecast2.aspx

I do not know any forecasts which go out further than 14 days. The best you could do is something like http://wxmaps.org/pix/prec3.html but you have to know how to be able to read it. It is predicting well above average precipitation, but does not tell you how much of that will be overnight.
