What t.v. stations are available in Aruba?

I'm travelling with children and this seems to be one of their concerns. We are staying at the divi villiage golf and beach resort.
Do they offer american stations like nbc and cbs? Do they air current american programing, like American Idol, Greys Anatomy, etc.?

Hi,

Most resorts in Aruba have cable tv. The cable company of Aruba aires all big American channels like Cnn, ABC, NBC, TBS, Cartoon network, Nickelodeon etc etc. We get WGN for American Idol and Greys Anatomy is every Thursday's at 9 o'clock Aruba time on ABC (Sabine and I love Greys Anatomy)

Salsa Greetings,

Reggie

In 12 years of visiting Aruba we have found all of the resorts to have at least 2 of 3 of the major US networks.

At the Tamarijn in December we had:
Satellite TV which was very well covered: ESPN, ESPN2, HBO, TNT, Disney, USA, WGN, TBS, CNN, Venevision, Tele Aruba, Cinemax, Fox, CNN Headline News, BBC World, BBC America, CNBC, ABC Family, ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox Sports, Golf Channel, MTV, In-house TV and a couple of others, presumably South American, I never heard of.

Howdy do!!!! They have CBS, NBC, ABC, no fox, BBC, CNN, ESPN (International), Discovery, TBS, and TNN. I know there are others. Then they have some local ones as well. Arubalisa, I am sure can help with a more extensive list!!!

Most, if not all, of the Hotels and Timeshares have Satellite TV. Therefore, the stations that you get are up to the Hotel, and may differ from Hotel to Hotel. It may even differ at the same Hotel from week to week. Most Hotels should carry the major networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX).

It's funny - NBC is carried on Aruba TV ... when we took friends down there during the NBA playoffs, ATV (NBC) showed the games, but with Papiemento commentary and strange local cutaways. They enjoyed watching anyway, as will your kids if they are open-minded to a little cultural change-up. Otherwise, the satellite brings in ABC, CBS, Fox and CW on differing cities' local affiliates -- which means you'll see local news and weather from NYC or Miami or some other U.S. market alongside Grey's, Idol and the other kid favorites.

Most of the major affiliates are the New York branches of the networks. Why would you want to watch TV in Aruba anyway? Just a curious question? GO PLAY!
