    demolition by neglect
when the lacabana and the villas/aruban know known as the tropicana divorced almost a decade ago, the royal cabana casino was turned over to the villas.they in turn went belly up, sold to the aruban, then sold to the tropicana.all the while this empty hulk of concrete continued to stay closed and deteriorate.
the plans supposedly by the tropicana management calls for a large vegas style casino on that spot......someday.
it is demolition by neglect imo.
    sad.
    remember the great shows there?
we won over $5,000 there one evening maybe in 1999 or 2000.

    i remember!

i remember when the royal cabana casino was the place to go! back then, it felt like a vegas casino with the shows & lovely restaurant. we would get all dolled up to go there, take in a show & enjoy the seafood buffet. oh and the tour companies would hold their welcome receptions there - raffles & discount tours, etc. aaaah the memories
i am a bit surprised that the tropicana hasn't focused on that casino vs. the smaller one - can they be making much money on the small one?

Aww man, I am really sorry to hear that. Some fun memories of that place, it had great architecture as well! A definite "character building".

Yeahh... it is all in the past... We used to loved this Casino, and we did not have to go far... we are staying at PBV... I remember that first time in Aruba, when we just finished our sales tour in LaCabana( time share)... as a compensation- they gave us $100 chip from casino, and some other stuff....That very same evening- I, and my wife went to that Casino- and I said: this is a "Freebee"...put it on the table: and at before the days was over, I was able to convert $100- in to $3500.... and we bought ourselves a Timeshare in PBV...Put it as downpayment, and the rest- is history..Good memories.

I'm jealous....I for one would 'donate' to that place on a yearly basis.

It looks like everyone won !!

Great place!!.. The Detroit Pistons head trainer taught me and my buddies how to play craps in that casino in the early 90s...
