    what would you do?

If you were sitting and enjoying the peacefulness of the beach and the ppl near you decided to blast music, what would you do?

paul and i have had that conversation a few times.
we have had issues (not in aruba) here on the beaches of clearwater and ana maria island where the neighbors "blast" their music.
the only thing that helps is plugging in our ear phones and listening to our own.
it is rude and offensive that people play their music loudly enough to disrupt others

would folks consider mentioning it to the loud music players asking for a tone down?
we have chosen not to ask.

This is tough. I am thinking because the beach is public and you never know how confrontational people will be, you may have to just move away from them. If the music is offensive, I may contact someone at my resort to see if there is anything they can do.

We play music on a small speaker, but we try to keep it low. A few times we have gotten looks from people close by. When that happens I always turn it down. So maybe try giving a stern look?

I have also told the people around us if it bothers them, let us know and we will turn it off.

If some people are rude enough to play their music knowing that it is disturbing others...
I would just moved away knowing that they are the types that don't care.
Seen this happen on a nice little beach in one of the islands; when this older couple asked them nicely to turn the music down a notch.
It was that horrible rap crap...... anyways they just turned it up.
We took the older couple with us (afraid they might be targeted and moved to a quieter section)
Some things just aren't worth getting fighting over.

We were sitting under our umbrella overlooking the ocean in our "spot" in the front (sorry Tracey, don't mean to torment you ) and listening to the music at Moomba off in the distance and then these group of four young ppl (in their 20's) came to sit down in empty chairs right next to ours. They had music blaring from their iphones. Then the ppl who were sitting behind us who had their music on low (sort of) decided to turn theirs up. OMG, it was horrible with all of this going on. I thought about speaking with someone at the SC but all they could probably do was ask them to tone it down. As stated, the beach is public. Anyway, loud iphone ppl decided to go somewhere (thank God) and then other ppl still had their music loud. My other beach neighbours and I were then discussing the loud music (but not loudly) and then the other ppl lowered their music. I could not have moved and I couldn't have spend the rest of the afternoon listening to all this loudness!!!

So jealous of your spot! But once you pay for that you really don't want to be annoyed. Sorry that happened. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
We enjoyed the music from Moomba from a distance on our umbrella day too, can't imagine having to deal with a mix of different types all mashed together.

I grew up in the city and even at the tender age of 61 I can't help myself. I ask them to turn it down (nicely). What happens after that......it all depends.....

There is a preponderance of rude people these days....

Randi has three sons in their twenties (all hockey players I believe), too bad they're not there. Then again, they're classy people so I guess they wouldn't stir the pot.
