What would YOU like to hear?

Here's a question for those who have been going to the island for more than a few years.
I've noticed that year after year my Lady and I are hearing the same bands (in numerous locations) and therefore, pretty much the same music, same sets, over and over. Not that I'm complaining, but I'm curious... what do you folks want to hear when you sit at the bar beside the ocean and take in the tunes? Are the same old songs good enough for you, (Margaritaville, Lay Down Sally, etc.) or would you like to hear something a little more, shall I say, current, and perhaps a little more varied.

Perhaps some Sheryl Crow, maybe a little Tom Petty, the odd John Mellencamp song by chance? Maybe some CCR?

What would put a smile on your face? (And as much as they're nice songs, please don't suggest "Knock Three Times" or "Tie a Yellow Ribbon"...)

If you have a moment, let me know.

Thanks and be well all, enjoy paradise if you're on your way there...

That's one...
Thanks for that. I'm sure there's more... come on folks...
what would you really like to hear next time you hit the bar at the Divi or the Tamarijn, or perhaps the Renaissance or even the Black Hog Saloon. I suppose we're now taking requests....

When I think of Aruba and music my mind is immediately filled with Soca (Salsa/Calypso). The Tamarijn's Pizza per Tutti played plenty of Mighty Sparrow so I was quite content.

Our last stay at the Westin (when it was still the Wyndham) the played hip hop every happy hour. I resorted to my MP3 player. Just not my taste in music.

Thinking about it though, if you only heard

would you feel as if you were in Aruba or back in the states?

I'm with you, Lisa! When in Aruba, I want to feel the Caribbean culture. Doesn't have to be tunes that I'm familiar with ... it's fun to hear new ones and be able to immerse myself into the happy island life!

Another vote for Mighty Sparrow here, along with anything from Byron Lee and the Dragonaires or Square One.

I have nothing against Tom Petty, CCR or Sheryl Crow, and their music would fit well with the overall atmosphere at the Black Hog, but if I'm near the beach or the pool laying back with a cold one, I want my soca!

(Do you hear something brewing in the back of my mind?)

Any more?

be well, brightest blessings
