Re: What's the verdict?

Went in January for the ninth year in a row. Met many, many couples that have been going to the Tam for 5 - 10 - 15 or more years. Must be something to it. Have fun, I'm missing it already.

Re: What's the verdict?

YOU TELL US!YOU ARE THE ONE THAT HAS TO CHOOSE...ALL I KNOW IS THAT I LIKE TO TRY DIFFERENT PLACES WHEN AND WHERE I WANT AND NOT HAVE TO EAT WHAT OTHERS ARE DISHING OUT..ALL INCLUSIVE IS OVERRATED AND OVER EXPENSIVE..

Chris: AL if you intend to "drink". Bar charges are high, unless at the DePlama Pier for happy hour. However, if you enjoy eating as I do ---- sample them all, food is excellant and wide selection in Aruba. We do not do the AL, buy your liquor in the grocery stores.

Re: What's the verdict?

Personal Preference!

Personally, I go AI. Everyone raves about the "great" restaurants in Aruba, but I find them prety much the same as in Boston - some are very good, some are not, none are great everytime.

The last time we went to El Gaucho, my steak was terrific, but my wife's filet mignon was average.

If you are the kind of person who wants dinner to be a 3-hour experience, don't go AI. Get dressed, catch a cab, wait for your table, wait for your food, etc. Some people really enjoy that.

I like the conveninece of AI. I can grab a couple of drinks without reaching in my pocket for $20. If I don't like it, I just get another. I am more relaxed on the beach without having to keep an eye on my wallet. Because of this, it is more peaceful at the Tam; there is less for crooks to steal.

I prefer to spend my evenings at the shows and the casino. If you are not interested in nightlife, then you probably want to make dinner an evening event for you.

Like I said, personal preference. The people who knock one or the another have their own agenda. I have been told there are Aruba restaurant owners who come on here and knock AI, for obvious reaosns, but I can't be sure.

Have fun!

P. S. if you have kids with you, AI is so much simpler.

Re: What's the verdict?

Why would you want to go all inclusive when Aruba has such great restaurants and bars. And if you do decide to eat out or go to a bar, you'll feel guilty because you bought the all inclusive, not to mention spending more money.

Re: What's the verdict?

I think you will be pleased at the "Tam"-it's always a personal choice...if you like to party and meet lots of fun people you will be happy at the "Tam"- we do not go AI as we are time-share owners (and older) and enjoy experiencing different restaurants...you can always pick one nite to "splurge" at a great restaurant...you will also be eating at the Divi- so enjoy!! To each their own- your going to get many opinions on this MB- to each their own...no matter what you decide you will return again and again...and next time you can try something different (if you want) Bon Bini

Re: What's the verdict?

We do both! Stay at our timeshare for a week and eat out at all the great restaurants and then spend 4 nights at the Divi and enjoy the AL. Works for us!

Re: What's the verdict?

We love the variety of restaurants on the island. Save your money and experience excellent food and cruises by Red Sail and the Tattoo party boat (A blast) and the Kukoo bus. If you like to drink a lot, buy your alcohol at the grocery stores and take advantage of happy hour and complimentary drinks at the many casinos. Finally look at the many coupon books from the airport and in the lobby. Many restaurants offer a free drink or wine with dinner. Have a great vacation!!!
