In 15 years and 19 visits for Aruba I do not recall ever seeing a beach/water wheelchair.

There is a little bit of information at Aruba Travelers Disabilities
www.aruba.com/ExploreAruba/islandfacts.aspx#dlSectionLnk19
which includes information on resort facilities as well as medical equipment rentals.

I would check with one of the rental companies, they would be your best bet if there is any chance of being able to get the specialized wheelchair.

Do any forum members recall seeing a wheelchair similar to the below at any of the resorts?

After some googling I found some references to beach wheelchairs on the island. I would definitely verify this information directly with the resort(s).

http://www.sath.org/index.php?sec=1170&id=5242
Reference to June 15, 2005 visit "Aruba Marriot Resort ... Marriot has a beach wheelchair and we found it to be a well kept secret. After a lot of persuasion and insistence, we managed to get them to dig it out of the storage where it has been kept. We met at least three of their guests who were delighted to find out about the beach wheelchair since someone in their group needed it to be together with the rest of them at the beach. The lobby, the restaurants, and the casino have wheelchair accessibility. The public rest rooms and the guest bathrooms have raised toilets with grab bars. Acording to their manager who showed us around, they do not have any roll-in showers. Nor do they have hand held shower heads. "

LaCabana was the only resort I've ever seen one at. They had one with those big yellow wheels on it. We saw someone use it every day a few years ago when we stayed there.

also too this place sells/rents medical supplies
if they do not have the sand/water wheelchair, they may be able to redirect you to a place that does rent them.

Lisa, as usual, our posters can always count on you for information...which, as you say, should be verified; but, I can almost bet if y0u found the pictures and information that it is accurate. You are incredible.

They have one at the Divi Links. E-mail your resort in advance and they may make arrangements to acquire one before you arrive.

We saw one with the grey tires at Costa Linda when we were there in March.
