Being a business owner in North America for the past 24 years, I have come to expect that things happen in pretty much real time. Being a home owner and frequent visitor to our happy island of Aruba for the past 5 years, I have come to appreciate every moment of interruption that life brings your way. Today is just one example . . .
After enjoying our coffee on the back patio and a nice walk . . . the electricity went out at about 9:15am . . . we went about our daily life preparing for a dinner with 7 friends to prepare a paella together, share some wine, and sing and dance after a fill of the finest paella prepared by our good friend Manuel.
The power went on at 2pm for 30 minutes, then out again . . . rather than sweat it, we just went out and bought several bags of ice so our Proseco would be nicely chilled . . .
As we prepared our paella the electricity was still out . . . then . . . the electricity went on at about 7pm . . . and we just kept on with our plans as though nothing happened . . .
The dinner has been a blast . . . . it has been raining as we dance to Spanish music on our back patio . . .
Aruba seems to bring out the best in everyone . . . we enjoyed the evening that brought friends together from Canada, Venezuela, Italy, Spain, Brazil, and Argentina.
This is why I Love Aruba.
