When should I book my vacation

Hello we are planing to go to Aruba in June 2008. I was wondering when I should book it? I was waiting to book to see if any specials came up, and also I was waiting for my airline miles to add up. We are going to be staying at the tam.

You may get different opinions, but here's mine

We start looking to book in March as early as July of the prior year. We tend to book the airfare and rent a timeshare. We just booked our airfare about a month ago and we are flying out at the end of March. The price of airfare went up considerably about a week or 2 after we booked it. It's really all a crapshoot. I'm not one to book last minute travel, however, people get some great rates when doing that. I need to know in advance what's going on. We purchased one flight, and go the other with mileage.

You can start to surf the web and see what kind of deals come up. Good Luck!

We depend on Amy at MCM Tours to always give us the best deal. They sell only travel to Aruba so are quite knowledgable. Been using her for years, as do others here on the forum. You can always call her on Monday to see if she has any "deals" for the Tamarijn. We've already booked through her for our trip next June. She'll guide you as to what is best for you.

Thank you I did just go on the site to look and see what they offered. The only thing is I have to book my airfare separate because I have two airlines miles to use up and some other offers for american airlines to use up..

Ann, Monday just telephone them for pricing for the package without airfare. We booked our trip for June and have 2 frequent flyer tickets. MCM will gladly book a package for you without airfare.

One thing I forgot to mention is that if you are a AAA member, you can get a discount. We are getting one for our stay at the Bucuti in March. Doesn't hurt to ask MCM about that if you have AAA.

Yes we are AAA members and have flyer miles to use, so you think they will still come up with a good price????

The best way to find out is to call and ask.

I agree with Janlel about the airfare being a crapshoot. My advice is to check the airliine web sites every day and book a fare when something comes up that looks good. I travel out of Newark airport nonstop to Aruba, and I have seen prices at different times for as little as $298 to over $1,000 for the same flight. Sometimes, the cost of the flight will go up one week, and down the next. If you are a bit flexible, traveling a day early or a day later can sometimes cut the airfare in half. Although I have many frequent flyer miles, normally I have to use double the miles to get a free ticket on Continental even if I book the trip almost 1 year in advance.

I have to use 30,000 miles to go from JFK to AUA. I changed my Friday to Monday and got a price for 298.00 I think that is good. So I'm just waiting for my miles to come in on my hubbys card...
