25,000 would be great, I wish they offer that in JFK to Aruba

Ann- We just booked today for May 2008for 413pp. I was checking between Delta and USAir. I live in the Cincy area which is the 2nd largest hub for Delta and the most expensive. It's 774 pp rountrip for the dates we want. We fly on a Monday. I kept checking Columbus Ohio and it was never anywhere near that much. Well right after midnight last night (Tuesday) it went down to 413.pp to ATL to AUA.
If I was willing to do an overnight in New York and fly home a day late and spend extra for a hotel it would have been 388ppto fly into JFKand then CMH(Columbus). So it's just a gamble and you just have to keep looking. So we have to drive 2 hours and spend the night at a hotel. We are still saving a lot of money. We have never flown for under 1200 for the 2 of us to Aruba. So just keep looking and I have heard to look on Wednesday morning for fares to go down. Hope this is helpful to you.

It is astounding isn't it? We fly in June, mid-week and from Atlanta non-stop the fare is $809.70 People who live in hub cities get punished. Lucky are those who have competition, similar to what happened in NYC with Continental and Jet Blue.

Our trip is on March 30th, and we used some miles from our Capital One card for 1 ticket and purchased the other. We had to use 50,000 miles r/t. It was SO easy. I booked both tickets on AA.com, then went online to my Capital One account and indicated that I wanted to be reimbursed for one ticket and have the mileage deducted from my rewards account. A few days later the mileage was deducted, and my credit card was credited the $464 for the flight.

Did you use AA mileage? I can't believe it's only 25,000 r/t!!

On the bright side, we had to give Delta 40,000 miles for our tickets in June. Still have to buy a ticket for dd. They are "supposed" to have tickets for 25,000 but it is a fallacy, nearly a myth. Sometimes you can get them last minute, but then they charge you a "late booking fee".
