Who ya gonna meet??????
Hey ,I have a question for any and everyone on here. When you go to Aruba,do you ever meet people from near where you live completely by chance? Here is what happened to us.
In 2008 we stayed at the holiday inn and while relaxing on the beach,we started talking to several people as we usually do and found out this one couple were staying at the holiday inn also and they lived in the same town as us!!about 3 miles away.We also found out that their son and ours had gone to high school together. We were even on the same flight going home and when we got to Newark airport it was snowing and they even gave us a ride home(approx 70 miles) from the airport. They brought us right to our door step.Very nice people indeed. Has anyone had any similar situations like this occur to them.I think it would be interesting to hear.

We had a similar experience at the Hyatt one year. We met an older couple who we became chatty with every day at breakfast. It turned out they live in the next town over and own the summer camp that is just a mile from our house. After returning home a few days later, we ran into them again at one of our favorite restaurants, it turned out that their daughter and son-in-law own the restaurant. Sometimes it is a small world!!

Our first year, 1989, we stayed at the then Americana. At the first evenings Managers party we met a couple fom here in town that were also members of the same Corvette Car Club that we recentl joined.
We rented a car together and went out to dinner a couple of times also. Now quite often we meet people from our area. |

We met a couple in the Dominican Republic many years ago and after hanging and getting to know them I said you look familiar. After trying to figure it out for a couple days it dawned on me. We met in the airport in Aruba one year. They go the same time we do so we get together every year now. Such a small world.

We met a couple in Aruba over 10 years ago.
Turned out they lived not far from us back home.....and we are able to get together for dinner at least every couple of months and for BBQs in the summer. Since they visit the island for the same weeks that we do every year....we have made a tradition of having dinner with them our first night in Aruba every year. They have become some of our closest friends... |

Last year while on a large snorkel cruise my husband noticed a familiar looking fellow passenger. She finally turned around far enough so that he could see her whole face. It was someone he works with at one of his client accounts. While it was my first time meeting her, we became fast friends and the two of us went out on our own snorkel trip to Mangel Halto later in the week. I have since seen her at work functions with my husband.
My husband is a very friendly guy, and he works in sales. I don't think we have ever gone anywhere that we didn't see someone he knows! |

Last spring, we had four lounge chairs under our palapa for my husband and me plus our son and his friend. We went in for lunch, and the boys didn't leave their towels on their chairs. We came back from lunch, and two other boys were using the empty chairs. The ironic thing was that the boys were also students at our son's and friend's high school, had no idea that our son & friend were in Aruba, let alone that they had 'taken' their chairs. We had a huge laugh over that, and they hung out together the rest of the week.

We were "forced" to go onstage and introduce ourselves as honeymooners, back in '04 at the Wyndham (our first trip to AUA). We announced we were from Youngstown, Ohio and this big group of people applauded and we then talked afterwards for a few minutes. It was really wild to go all the way down there and talk to people from your own neck of the woods back home! Pretty cool...
