Why Aruba is BETTER than CAPE COD

Many of us that visit aruba, do so in the summer.
Lots of the summer visitors are subject to the question...YOU, go to ARUBA during the Summer....WHY?

Well, i just spoke with an old friend who spent a fortune at the Cape and here is her story.
(Moral of the story is go to Aruba)

They rented a place in Harwich 3 blocks from the beach. Rental 20 days $6000.
They had to bring their own bedding/linens.
3 children ages 11-16 and mom and dad.
Traveled from Peekskill NY.
RAIN and cold every day. therefore no beach.
therefore having to spend extra $$ on entertaining the kids.
Movies. they spent $400+ in movie theater and blockbuster
Food they spent over $2000 on groceries, restaurants and fast food.
Other forms of entertainment for the kidlets: bowling, mall, and taking 2 day trips to boston and 1 day trip to the vineyard. $1500+

The mom, who is my friend, tells me her best guesstimate is that they spent about $10K on this vacation from hell.
How much would it cost for a 2 week stay including air at an all inclusive in aruba such as the Tamarijn?

air from JFK to aruba?
accomodations at an all inclusive?
tips?
a few excursions?

.........aruba........the place to go year round.

I agree 100%. We are down on Nantucket for a week. I am enjoying myself however the weather is cloudy and cool in July. The restaurants are very expensive and the food prices at the grocery stores are outrageous. We had to pay to leave our car parked for the week 160.00 $3000.00 to rent the house plus the boat ride over $$$$$. Gosh I wish had just taken a flight down to sunny Aruba and enjoyed our week. Oh well I guess you live and learn. I want sunny warm weather on vacation

I get this question all the time. I live in SW Florida. It's too expensive to vacation here!

I agree, Aruba is the place to go. We went down to the Jersey shore last week for three days for a little mini vacation. The water was cold and rough and I had to wear a sweatshirt at night. I turned to my husband and said, " This is a nice getaway for a few days, but this is why I vacation in Aruba every July!"

Hard to even compare a tropical island to an east coast beach.

Wait for the people from North Jersey & Philly to chime in on this one ...

When I was in college and working in North Jersey I would leave work at 2 a.m. after being in classes all day, then working a 10 hour shift and drive the hour and a half to get to my parents rather than having to fight the traffic to "the shore" on a Saturday morning.

When I was a kid, before my parents moved to "the shore" and did the trip in reverse to get back to North Jersey on a Sunday night...the earliest we would ever leave would be about midnight.

Thumbs up

>>>> "ARUBA during the Summer....WHY?"
---- When I was a teen and later would always go to Ocean City, MD. Sometimes it would rain, hot, high humidity, big waves, undertow, .........
Went to Aruba in 1987. None of the above. Have not been back to Ocean City.
And in Aruba I can drink Amstel Bright right on the beach.
