It is either those big monstrosities or the black smoke from fuel combustion...
Between both the first one is obviously a lesser evil...

The newer generation turbines don't require the large blades from the old style windmills. They are more compact in nature and the blades are vertical, parallel to the pole itself.

Saw 5 as we drove into Atlantic City, they looked peaceful ( for lack of a better word) and sat off near some swampy area...I am all for them and don't know whats taken people so long to latch onto them.

i think what has caused people not latch on to them readly is ignorance.

they have ideas that they are incredibly noisy and kill birds.........in fact i spoke with someone recently that says that birds are constantly being shredded in them. that is not true. (maybe a few real stupid birds)

as chadd mentioned, some of the places are using the turbines with the blades parallel to the main pole.

What an awesome idea! I would rather see wind turbines than cell phone towers any day.

As far as the birds, well, how many birds get sucked into airplane engines every day?

Birds also die flying into cell phone towers. There are how many more cell towers than wind turbines? I don't see anyone detaching their phones from their ears in order to save the birds.

I like to think of the wind turbines as modern art.

and sat off near some swampy area..
An excellent use of environmental space in an othewise undevelopable area, with minimal impact on the environment.

    The wind turbines are fantastic.....
Good for the environment and electric supply.....
However.... they do cost more to operate than traditional power sources!

Most people think it the opposite....

I'm glad to see it though.

Reminds me of the $40,000 price tag on the new Chevy Volt. If you do the math on the gas savings you will be driving that car for what about 15 years to recoup?

Gonna have to agree with Andrea.. My brother has been putting these wind mills up for years now. Everyone should be thinking Green.. The wind mills he puts up are huge but generate so much power, and only need as little wind as 5mph and the breaks come on at 8mph.. Not bad.. Aruba should have more solar power as well.. One of these days our governments will think smart and will be more on the green side, instead of worrying about the all mighty dollar..
