Would You Pay Additional Fees For Enhanced Emergency Services

As a tourist, would you pay additional fees in the form of an additional 1% resort tax in order to pay for enhanced emergency services?

My wife and I would pay the fee but would no longer donate money to island charities which we donate to at the present time.

Speaking for myself, I feel with the amount of money I spend to go there I would say no. On the flip side I would be more than willing to go and start my own medical service if they would let me..

First let me say I love Aruba, it's people and everything in general. However, having to pay an additional 1% for services is outrageous. These services are the basics that any government should provide for it's citizens and guests. Personally, I think the government of Aruba needs to prioritize a little better. What's more important, creating a walkway connecting the beaches or updating it's emergency services? For me the answer is easy, the preservation of life trumps everything.

I don't know if I would like to pay extra for the services such as being added to the room bill.....However, If I had an emergency while there I would be willing to pay extra to get that freaking ambulance to where I needed it. I was very upset when I read the ambulance couldn't make it to a past post.

re: the ambulance not showing up is what brought up this different thread.

I feel like Andrea....it would not be a deal breaker...I will still go to my home away from home....
However, since we own a TS on the island we have to pay energy and air conditioning fees/day added to our bill at end of stay....I am not sure if hotel quests are required to pay a similar fee ???
Or if you buy a package deal say with USAir for flight and hotel if that is included or not ???
So here is my question...will everyone be charged a fee regardless .....
Could they not just add it to the exit fee when you leave the island which would be included in your ticket cost...then you wouldn't know it and not be upset about it !!!!

Interesting that it came up today, there was a big fire today. Not sure what was on fire but I got really worried when I saw that it was close to the Palmera facility.
