Wow! What's going on down there??

I'm looking at the Bucuti webcam (Tare Beach), and the waves look awesome! The water is reaching way up to the very last row of palapas. Holy moly!

Crazy! Can't believe it, we were there two weeks ago at the Casa Del Mar and the beach was the largest I had ever seen it.

I was there with my girlfriend this afternoon (Saturday) and the waves were pounding on us. We surely had a great time. It got scary some times but it was fun. We were at the Tamarijn beaches and the waves were approximately 7.5 foot tall. Here's a picture of the waves in the past days.

I just came home yesterday evening and was in Aruba for the big waves. I was told it was caused by an oceanic surge near the coast of Florida in which warm currents and cool currents collide and cause a large wave swell. This system rippled all the way down to Aruba. It was almost like after and during the passing of Hurricane Dean in August of 2007.

According to Meteorological Service Aruba it was simply a cold front which had moved into the Caribbean from the North reaching as far south as Central America...
