Re: Wyndham

Stayed at the Wyndham in May, we did the all-inclusive. We thought it was very nice. It was our 9th time going, but first time at the Wyndham. We always stay at the Allegro, but it's closed for rennovation. We definitely will go back to the Allegro, but if it doesn't reopen in time, I would not hesitate to book the Wyndham.

Re: Wyndham

did they just raise the prices? i was just there in march and although they did go up, i dont think it was as much as 200.00/// but anyway.. the only thing with the wyndham iss that is is very windy there, we had friends that stayed there while we were at the hyatt and the difference was unbelievable... i dont want to tell you where to stay, but i just wanted to let you know what i experienced.. just fyi...anywhere you stay in aruba will be wonderful as you know, being there before... i have another friend that just came back from the wyndham and she paid $17.00 for a bottle of visine to get the sand out... she usually stays at the allegro, but with it being renovated.. she stayed there... the hotel itself is good, its just the wind at that point.. have a great time and enjoy!

Re: Wyndham

Wyndham is a great place, we have stayed there 4 times, never did all inclusive tho. You cannot beat the Wyndham for value for what you get there. Be sure to join Wyndham by Request program online, you get many perks, like free upgrades, phonecalls, refrigerator if you ask for it, snacks in the room, late checkout etc. Ask for an even numbered low numbered room, they have the best views. Enjoy!

Re: Wyndham

Hi Diane I have been to ARuba 3 x and stayed at the Wyndham all 3. Never been disappointed. The things I love about it are the rooms are spacious, and all have a great ocean view. Balconies are GREAT!! I love getting up early, making coffee, and sitting out there reading, enjoying the view. Some prefer the even side of the hotel, but I have been on both, and they are equally good. Try the lower #'s (rooms closest to beach side) and higher up (10th floor and up) Rooms on odd side look up the high rise section, and you see more action. Even side looks over the ocean and the island toward town. Both nice views!
The restaurants in the hotel are great. Never had a bad meal, but I really never had a bad meal almost anywhere I have eaten in Aruba. All personnel were friendly, helpful. Bellhops actually more helpful than the desk clerks! I love the grounds, the pool area, and the beach there. I had friends who have stayed at the Marriot, Hyatt, and the Wyndham and they love the Wyndham bette. The elevators go to the Lower level, so you can walk right out to the beach and not have to walk thru the lobby. Casino great there too! Hope that helps!

Re: Wyndham

My wife and I stayed at the Wyndham on our Honeymoon about a month ago. It was a great experience. The pool was incredible and they have a really nice beach area. It is a bit windy down by the beach but I thought that only added to the Aruban experience. The hotel lobby is very nice and so are the restaurants. I recommend Blossoms for sushi. The Terrace restaurant by the beach is ok and good for a quick bite. I recommend reserving a the couples beachside dinner at Azull. The food was very good and it was a beautiful sunset. You must reserve far in advance because its very popular and seating is limited.
The only fault with the Wyndham is that they need to do just a little more work on the rooms. I think they need some updating. But we were rarely in our room. I recommend requesting an even numbered room on a high level. Those rooms have the best views. Also, don't let anyone tell you about a "musty" smell in the Wyndham rooms. Its only because of the high humidity and the AC unit. Most hotels have this issue.
In the end, the Wyndham is a nice place to stay. I would stay there again if the price was reasonable.
I hope this helps.

Re: Wyndham

They Wyndham has an all inclusive program but most advise not to take it. With all the great restaurants in the vacinity why be locked into only a few. I stayed at the Wyndham three times, most recently in July. While the Hyatt appears a little more tropical around the pool for the price the Wyndham can't be beat.

Every room looks out over the ocean, but the even numbered rooms have the better view. Also, go on the Wyndham web site and join their Wyndham by Request program. No charge and then when you reserve you give your number and you get a few goodies in your room when you arrive at no charge.

The hotel is about 18 stories with direct access from the lower lobby to the pool/beach. There is a bar at the pool as well as the typical ourside dining area which service good basics such as burgers, etc. The beach is great but for a hut you need to get in line, probably by 8:00 am. Lots of chairs around the pool with a modest amount of shade.

Whether you stay at the Wyndham or not I would recommend Blossoms, the Chinese/Japanese restaurant. The Japanese side is like a Bennihanas with food cooked in front of you with a little flair. The early bird special of about $16 per person can't be beat.

Re: Wyndham

I'd join the ByRequest program for the Wyndham hotels. You can get a free room upgrade at check-in(if avail) and some other ammenities. I usually call the local number and talk to reservations manager (can't remember the name now) and worked out a good price for a high floor room that ends with an even number. That is the sunset side of the hotel. The lower the number i.e. 02, 04, 06, 08, etc, the closest to the ocean.
We do the Breakfast and Beverage package for about $59.00 p/p per day. That gets you unlimited premium drinks and bkfst buffet daily. One drink bill can run $80.00 pretty quick. The pool is a great place to have cold refreshments constantly. One can use the drink card in the Casino at the Cash Bar, too. I wouldn't go all inclusive in Aruba since there are so many marvelous restaurants.

Have fun,
Ken
