You will need some shade if you plan to stay on the beach all day. THe sun is VERY hot.

Huts are man made umbrellas on the beach. Sun is very hot and you do want to get out of it at some point. Was there in May and had no problem as long as you don't care where they are (all are good). Was also there in January and there were more lines. Also you will not have them for the day if you don't use them by 11am when they will get reassigned if they see no one is using them.

We never got a hut...just never appealed to us to wait in line when we were perfectly happy getting chairs by the water. We were there last August and there were always chairs...the staff usually picked up 2 for us and moved them where we wanted them and set them up with our towels. No biggie at all. If we wanted a break from the sun then we just went up for lunch or a snack and the terrace or at the pool bar or took a jump in the pool.

If you don't get up early and get a hut you won't be able to spend the day on the beach. It's as simple as that. I live in New York and near a beach and I sit amost the whole summer without and umbrella but in Aruba maybe 20 min at the most.

couldn't be bothered with the hut. i love the sun and love sitting by the water. afterall, that is what aruba is all about.
if you can't sit in the sun all day, the huts are handy to grab some shade.

We were there in June last year and headed back again this year. We never went down early to reserve a palapa. You won't be able to stay on the beach all day anyway due to sun, and people eventually leave and palapas become available. The pool at the Wyndham is great - especially the comfortable beach chairs. The beach is just a few steps away, so you can go back and forth between the two easily. If you have fair skin, you need to be VERY careful with the sun in Aruba.

just to add to what has already been said. THere are tons of chairs and the guys who work there will gladly carry a chair for you to where ever you want I TIP them 1-2 $$
You need a hut if you cant sit in the sun or you want to nap (dont fall asleep for hours with no sunscreen!!) There is always shade at the pool for an afternoon kink. LOL NO waiting for chairs and you really dont need a palapa (umbrella) for all day just the hottest 12-3 good luck!
