Is it a phone for purchase or is it one you already have?

Phones listed for sale usually will say if they are unlocked or not. If it is a phone you have you have to get a non-nextel SIM card and pop it in to see if it will work. Unless someone else knows a better way.

Nope, I did not buy it. It is my husband's old phone. I figured I'd go that route before buying one. I actually have a few people checking for their old phones too.

Most everyone I know has Verizon (no SIM cards). I just checked Amazon.com and found a "Mobal GSM World SIM Card" for $10. I'll look around for a cheaper one. Thank you all, this is great info!!!!! </SPAN>
