    What is the current situation?

    Local mosquito transmission of Zika virus infection (Zika) has been reported in Aruba. Local mosquito transmission means that mosquitoes in the area are infected with Zika virus and are spreading it to people.

    Since the initial outbreak in Aruba, there hasn't been many at all since.

    The testing takes a long time to complete and local transmission is happening. Not time for pregnant women to let down their guards yet.

    24 reported cases in the Netherlands frm visitors to Aruba or Suriname. The alert is ongoing. The Zika virus global update dated March 18, 2016 recommends that pregnant women not travel to Aruba, that women who have visited wait 2 months to conceive,and that men should wear condoms for 6 months to prevent pregnancy. The risk is still there.

    Yeah I saw that yesterday that put me in a really grumpy mood as going by that, I will have to cancel my honeymoon

    But if we leave it til June (when we have to pay for holiday) that might make it difficult to book elsewhere at such short notice

    In a sad place right now.
