Re: babysitting

We stay at the Divi Village and for the past five years, we have brought our grandson, who is now five years old. The hotel should have a list of good babysitters available for you. We try to get the same sitter as we go out a few nights and like the continuity. It works out that the Divi's telephone operator sat for us after her work hours. This worked out well for all concerned, but she left Aruba and moved to Denmark. After trying to get the same sitter for our stay, we now have one of Divi's front desk person's mother that sits for us. She is very dependable and looks foward to us coming down in March and October. Our grandson loves her so much that he informed us that he wants to marry her this coming trip. Once we stayed at La Cabana and had a very nice sitter there as well. The rate was $9.00 US /hour, $10.00 after 11pm and weekends. We give our sitter the $10 no matter when we use her. It does add to the cost of an evening out, but it is well worth the expense for a break for my wife and I.

Re: babysitting

We have used babysitters when our kids were younger but at a different resort. If there is a kids camp or kids program put child in that to give you some free time and it also lets your child have some fun too. You can both get to know some of the staff who work with the kids and then approach them to baby sit for you. Usually they do night time babysitting. In addition, some of the kids camps have one evening when they run the camp instead of the day. Enjoy!

Re: babysitting

My husband and I used the Occidental's babysitting service for our 17 month old in October. I was more than a little nervous about doing this but Natalie was fantasic. She was the sister of one of the ladies in guest services. I did pay her more than the required 10 dollars per hour each of the three times she watched our son just in hopes she would do an extra special job each subsequant time. We never went off the grounds of the hotel when we had the sitter.
