RE: Cell phone rental

Check with "Setar" when you are there.
Or just get one from your office or home, it will work in Aruba.

RE: Cell phone rental

When I went to aruba last Nov both my phone(sprint) and my husbands phone(Verizon) did not work so you might just want to check that out before you leave.

RE: Cell phone rental

If you go to

www.arubalinks.com the have information on the company called Cell U Rent. Cell phones from the US will NOT work in Aruba. If you purchase an Aruba plus card for $10.95, you get a free half hour of calls to the US, a 15% discount and you don't have to pay a deposit which is usually $100. The rates are really good. I have never used it but with what you would pay with a phone card or at one of the calling booths, this seems like a really good deal! Have a great time, 30 more days till I'm there!

I agree with the others that US cell companies don't work on the island. I have been to Aruba six times and have used www.arubadiscountcell.com as my provider. They deliver to your timeshare or hotel so you avoid the line at the cell phone kiosk at the airport. that is worth alot to me!!They also pick it up when you leave. problem free.

I was very pleased with http://arubafastphones.com/. You can pick up the phone at the airport and drop it back there as well. For us, this works better than waiting about for someone to come to the hotel.

For internationally dialing you must have your cell phone activated prior to leaving the US. Call your provider and find out your particular phone's requirements. Dh did this through Cingular/ATT and we had no problems whatsoever.

The original posts were 5 years ago, but you all gave good advice. When I rented a cell in Aruba I used www.fastphones.com Great service from Charles. Now that I go a few times a year, I have bought a Aruba cell phone.

Also some added links now that it is morning and I am actually awake.

Cingular/AT&T Customers can access information "Traveling Outside the US". You need to know if your wireless device will work in Aruba. You also need to activate an international roaming account.

Verizon Wireless International calling to/from Aruba is available. Your phone must be activated for international dialing and accepting international calls. The programming must be done from your home calling area.
