Difficulty finding normal dairy milk

I just returned from Aruba. We traveled with our 16 month old son and I wanted to alert other parents that it was difficult to find normal dairy milk in Aruba. We stayed at the HI which has a small store but they only had milk that came in a carton and had a shelf life of several months. I really don't know exactly what it was but our son wouldn't drink it. We took a cab from town one afternoon and stopped at a grocery store and we found regular milk there. Just FYI - If you're traveling with a small child, you may want to stop on the way from the airport to buy milk.

Bobby - What on earth is the problem with bringing a child on vacation with you?? If you don't like kids so be it but don't put down those who do and stay out of the "Kids R Us" section of this message board. Find something better to do with your time.

Lynne - thank you for the information, that is very helpful to know.

Hi Lynne if you had gone into one of the three major supermarkets near the lo rise hotels, you could have gotten all of the American milk you could possibly want. We have bringing our children with us since they were infants and always find either Borden, Carnation or MacArthur milk in the supermarkets in whole, 2 and 1%. Sorry you had a problem, but someone at the hotel should have told you.

I held off on buying a couple of gallons and regretted it (there was nothing midweek at the two big supermarkets); it was tough finding the milk that the kids are typically accustomed to. They did not like that Dutch milk..

I was wondering if anyone knew if baby food is sold at the grocery store also. Ex: gerber or beech nut stage 2 or 3, because I didnt want to bring glass jars with us if I dont have to.

Regular milk has a short life. Hotel stores do not sell that much milk, that it why they have milk in a carton with a long life. I have always found milk in one of the three large markets on the island. They have chocolate, regular, lactaid and low fat.
