DIVI Tams Kids Club

Let me just start out by saying that we are Divi Club members and we always stay at the Pheonix. This year we decided to take the kids ages 5.6. and 8 becasue we saw that we could do the all inclusive at the Divi Dutch and use the kids club at the Tams. BIG MISTAKE!!!!! The activities they state they have are basically if the councelor on duty feels like doing it. There is only one counselor, so if there is a problem====and there was, somehow this counselor could not keep track of 6 kids and my 5 year old decided she was board and wondered off. My husband and I just happened to be walking from our room at the Dutch down to the tennis courts and we see our 5 yr old on a gold cart unescorted with just a driver. The driver takes her to our room and drops her and leaves! We go running back to find our daughter sitting outside our room door. So, not only did the counselor loose her but some one thought it was ok to let a 5 year old go on a gold cart to her room without a parent!!! To make matters worse the counselor is now looking for her. When we caught up to the counselor she made it out that it was our 5 yr old fault. HELLO! you were suppose to be watching her?!!!! We complaine to the Tams but they didn't seem too concerned. They just told us that they are having a hard time getting help. Well folks, I understand if you can't get bar tenders and we have to wait for our drinks but I am placing my daughter in your trust and care and your not too concerned?! After the incident another vacationer stopped us the next day to tell us that she had put her daughter in the club the day before and happened to look in on the kids and found no adult there in the room with the kids. They said the counselor went for ice cream. So she waited with the kids. It was 25 minutes until an adult arrived. She pulled her child out. She said she will never trust them again. I can see leaving an older child but these are small children, Thank God nothing happened!!!!!! I am so disappointed in DIVI I filled out a complaint and no one ever even bothered to get back to me. So if you have small kids be careful about the Divi kids club.

i have never heard of such happenings with the children's program at tamarijn.

you really need to write a letter and send it to everyone connected to tamarijn (divi) starting with the general manager, corporate headquarters, ahata, and ata.

your concerns need to be addressed.

when we stayed @ tamarijn our son was old enough to wander around on his own a bit . he was pretty independant.

he did take part in the activities but again, he was maybe 9 or 10 and was pretty much the oldest kid in the program.

again, take your concerns and complaints to where they can be addressed.

i do know that arubalisa has stayed at the tamarijn, and her daughter took part in children's activities............and to my knowledge they were quite pleased. then again, lisa's daughter is 11 yrs old and probably was allowed to be independant as our son was 13 yrs ago.

sorry that your daughter had a bad experience.
i think the bad experience is definately not the norm.

Again, I too am sorry and can only agree with Andrea on what action to take. Hopefully it was an islolated incident.

Thanks, we complained at the Tams and no one except Mrs. Rivera seem to think this was a big thing. Mrs. Rivera is a manager but I think the activites director does not answer to her and it seems that him and this counselor had a thing for each other. I wrote to Divi when I got home on 7/19 but no response. I went on line and spoke to Divi timeshare owners group and John Rizzo forwarded my email to the powers that be BUT no response yet. I guess Aruba doesn't get many kidnappings or accidents. But all they need is one ! Carolyna was the counselor at the Tams. She just had a real toot. But obviously got a way with it for what ever reason.
