Family AI Requests

Hi All,
Next year my in-laws want to spend their 50th Anniversary with all of the kids and grandkids in Aruba. What are the best resorts for this? The kids will range in age from 3 - 17, the parents are in their 30s & 40s, and the grandparents are in the 70 range. Is there a place that'll thrill all of us?

RE: Family AI Requests

I would say if you wanted an all inclusive---good for large family get togethers, try the Tamarijn. It has both buffet and a la carte restaurants, pool, tennis, it's on the beach, nightly entertainment, and a game room where teens hang, self serve coke machine, coffee and ice cream stations and 3 beach bars---one which serves pizza and sandwiches. If you go MEGA all inclusive you can also use the Divi Aruba beach resort next door and their restaurants, pools, etc.

see pix of this at (if you haven't already)

RE: Family AI Requests

Check out the Wyndham, during the summer they have Kids on Us and at there rest. the kids 12 and under are free, also, they are a member of One Cool Family Vacation during July 1 - Sept 30th so about 30 rest where the kids 12 and under eat free, also, many island tours kids are totally free, not all hotels participate , but saved us lots of $$. Great pool activities, bird show and the kids can have there pictures taken, and pet the birds, kids arcade, casino, shops, beach hut with the water sport rental right there on the beach, easy to get to the buses, and downtown for shopping. Right beside the Police station so definitly no problems there!! Have fun!

I would check out La Cabana. They have large suites as well as baby sitting available, and tons of great activities.
We have never been with kids, just had our first baby, and another on the way. As soon as they get old enough, we are going back, and we will stay at La Cabana.

I would definitely recommend the Tamarijn. The atmosphere is great, and the staff is so friendly. There is a kids' camp for kids age 5+, and an arcade. There are great restaurants (including paparazzi, my personal favorite), and you couldn't ask for a better view!
If you are considering the Tam, I would recommend visiting their webpage at www.tamarijnaruba.com. They're mighty friendly there... it's just perfect for your family!

RE: Family AI Requests

I agree that La Cabana is a great family/kid resort. We were there with our two year old and although he was not old enough for the CabanaNana club, he still had a great time with us just lounging around the pool or strolling across the street to Eagle Beach. We did not go all-inclusive, so I can't comment on the food. The rooms are so big and with having your own kitchen, breakfast and lunch with kids is fast and then enjoy going out for dinner somewhere.

Also, 2 weeks ago we stayed at Holiday Inn all-inclusive (no kids this time) we liked it, the food was fine, nice rooms, service etc... but i prefer Eagle Beach (Palm beach was a bit cloudy)

Hope that helpes.

RE: Family AI Requests

With kids who are very young, wouldn't you rather be in a time-share unit? When they nap or go to bed early at night you put them in the bedroom, close the door and putter around an apartment like unit instead of being stuck tippy toeing around quietly in a confining hotel room. Even if they just need a break from the sun/pool/ocean during the day, just for some quiet time they can loll around in the living room watching cartoons or something for awhile. La Cabana offers an all-inclusive which would save you a ton of money just on beverages alone, it would be worth it even if the food is just average. Or you could take a run to the grocery store and stock up on breakfast & lunch items along with juice, soda, etc.
