Dd does it more or less all the time
No TV permitted during the entire vacation for anyone
None of us use cells in Aruba.
Dh uses internet for work.
Dd uses the internet sparingly for literally moments at a time before dinner to catch up with friends.
Yours truly uses the internet to keep up with this forum, and touch base every few of days or so with her best friends and her motherIf the weather is exceptional, they do not hear very much from me.

Christmas & New Year's at the Amsterdam Manor
That was a nice story, Andrea. Thanks for posting it.
Knowing our DVR is recording our favorite shows makes it easy to leave the TV off without temptation. When my boys were teens, they knew to leave their cell phones off because no way would we pay for out of country cell charges that they would have incurred. We do rent phone(s) there for convenience to keep in touch with the boys when they were out and about. We still get a phone now that we're empty nesters for emergencies and for island calls.
Internet, well, I do check my email, web sites and news. Also, I have to stay on top of the ever changing Aruba weather conditions.![]()
The boys kept in touch with their friends that way too. But, as long as it was when we were waiting their turn to shower or something of that nature, a little computer chatting with friends never bothered me. Now, if they were on the computer rather than enjoying all that Aruba has to offer, that would have been different story. We do a lot of camping and outdoor activities where there's absolutely no electronics, no cell phone coverage, no internet, and often no electricity to be had. After one of those trips, it was always fun to watch their frantic texting when we made it back into cell phone range.![]()

how did we survive in the dark ages (50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and yes, even the 90s)?
hahaha
Interesting article, but 2 things that seem completely crazy:
1. that we cannot part with electronic devices except by force
2. an 11 year old with a girlfriend
Maybe it is just me...![]()
